Social media is a crucial marketing tool for all businesses. It doesn’t matter which sector you occupy, the size of your organisation or makeup of your audience; Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn are just some of the platforms you can use to promote your brand and reach more customers than ever before.

The DIY approach to social media doesn’t work
You might be fully conversant with social media in your life outside of work, but that doesn’t mean you’ll have the skills to make the most of these platforms for your business.

I’ve been in marketing for a long time and I can’t quite recall anything as powerful or cost effective as social media when it comes to precise audience targeting.
With Facebook, for instance, it’s now possible to create marketing campaigns that place your brand only in front of the people who are the most relevant, and at a time you’re most likely to engage them.
It’s not easy, though, and certainly something I’d advise against doing in house. As with any form of PPC marketing, Facebook and LinkedIn can quickly turn into black holes that will gobble up your marketing budget if you don’t know what you’re doing.
