In a world that now seems to include long term social distancing, on-going lock down (to some degree), travel restrictions, no mass gatherings (for the foreseeable) and the likely cloud of long term recession, on-line marketing is more important than ever.
There will be some businesses out there that have never felt the need for a website, let alone marketing on-line. Well times have changed and for all of us our Digital presence is and will be more important than ever.
I have put together my top tips for getting the most out of your business on-line. Whether you are a sole trader or a large corporation. The principles of being successful on-line are the same.
Is this the most important? Maybe, maybe not but what is crucial is that before you begin any effective Digital Marketing activity you need to know your market and know your customers. In these changing times both of these may have changed. What is likely is that if they have not changed the market place (and your competition within it) and the customer buying habits will have changed. This will be true whether you are a one person business such as a plumber or a large retailer.
It is very easy to forget the importance of being creative. In the times like we are living and working today it is all to easy to only focus on what we see directly in front of ourselves. Creativity is crucial to ensure that you are able to stand out from the crowd and find a way to engage that makes your business the number one choice.
Those of you that know me know this is one of my mantra's. It is something that I believe in totally and something that I adopt throughout my work. It is crucial through understanding your market, your competition and your customers that you make the buying (contact) process as simple, secure, safe, reliable and as easy as possible.
Any business that is going to be successful will have good, well written, relevant and engaging content. Your content needs to meet the expectations of your customers and work with them through the journey through your website. Your content will take your customers through to where you want them and help them to make an informed buying (contact) decision.
I know how difficult it can be to remain flexible. These are unprecedented times; we all need to remain flexible. Let's face it we cannot be certain what tomorrow is going to bring. You need to be ready to change, you need to be ready to flex to continue to be able to meet you customer expectations. Their needs, wants, requirement may be forced to change. If you want to remain successful on-line you need to ensure that your business is continuing to match their needs while of course maintaining any restrictions that are put in your way.
I know, I know, this seems to contradict being flexible....when I refer to long term I am referring to the importance of ensuring that your work is done with the quality, time, dedication for it to be sustainable and be able to be successful long term. I am referring to the importance of treating this as part of your strategy and not just a simple tactic to deal with the here and now. Think strategic, think long term!
You want to ensure that all that you have done and all that you do on-line is SEO optimised. If you are not sure what that means or you are not sure where to start, then make sure you invest in the services of someone who can help. This may be investing in a consultant, an agency or an individual that can help design, advice or implement. Whatever path works best for you make sure you invest wisely and invest smart.
